Ramaiya Vastavaiya movie Review

Ram, portrayed by Girish Kumar, hails from affluent roots as the son of billionaire parents and was raised in the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Australia. Conversely, Sona, played by Shruti Hassan, embodies the simplicity of her traditional rural upbringing in Punjab, under the care of her sole sibling, Raghuveer, depicted by Sonu Sood. Sona’s upbringing took a sorrowful turn after their mother’s passing, when their father’s remarriage led to their expulsion from their home, leaving them emotionally scarred by the humiliation they endured.

Their mother’s resting place stands on the modest plot they possess until the Zamindar asserts his ownership, citing a loan their mother had taken. In a bid to safeguard their mother’s memory, Raghuveer steps forward, dedicating himself to labor tirelessly day and night to settle the debt, under the condition that the tomb remains untouched. Relenting to Raghuveer’s earnest plea, the Zamindar consents, and with the assistance of the local station master, portrayed by Vinod Khanna, they embark on the journey to honor their mother’s legacy.

As time passes, Raghuveer and Sona mature. One eventful day, Riya, Sona’s closest companion, visits their home to extend an invitation to Sona for her impending wedding. Coincidentally, Riya’s cousin, Ram, accompanied by his mother Ashwini, portrayed by Poonam Dhillon, arrives on the same occasion. Ashwini, known for her fiery temperament, often clashes with her husband, depicted by Ranbir Kapoor, for his perceived leniency and philanthropic approach to business.

Initially, Ram and Sona fail to connect, with Sona finding him domineering and uncouth. However, Sona’s opinion gradually shifts when Ram comes to her aid, helping her retrieve a compromising video clip of Riya with her ex-boyfriend. This clip had become a tool for blackmail against Riya, threatening to tarnish her reputation if she didn’t comply with the blackmailer’s demands. Displaying his resourcefulness, Ram intervenes by breaking into the blackmailer’s residence, seizing his devices, and delivering them to Riya, thus rescuing her from the impending scandal and safeguarding her wedding plans.

As the romance between Ram and Sona blossoms, tensions escalate when the Zamindar reveals his son’s desire to marry Sona. Raghuveer evades the matter, insisting on obtaining consent from Sona and the station master, much to the disdain of the Zamindar’s son, who harbors malicious intentions. Despite their growing affection, Ram’s mother vehemently opposes the relationship, citing Sona’s lack of wealth and social status as reasons for disapproval. Additionally, plans are in place for Ram to marry Dolly, the daughter of Ashwini’s brother’s business associate.

In a fit of rage and arrogance, Ashwini publicly humiliates Sona and Raghuveer, accusing them of scheming to ensnare Ram. This leads to their expulsion from the house. However, upon learning of the injustice inflicted upon Sona and her family, Ram rushes to their home, pleading with Sona’s brother to accept him, despite the objections and prejudices of his own family.

Raghuveer, echoing the Zamindar’s earlier benevolence towards him, grants Ram an opportunity for redemption. Tasked with tending to the cows, maintaining their surroundings, and outperforming Raghuveer in crop cultivation by season’s end, Ram faces the ultimatum of exile from the village and separation from Sona if he fails. The Zamindar and his son, displeased by this turn of events, resent Ram’s presence as it disrupts their own plans for Sona’s marriage.

Meanwhile, Ram’s father, upon witnessing his son’s newfound dedication spurred by his love for Sona, becomes convinced of Sona’s suitability for Ram. Determined to pave the way for their union, he returns to Australia with the mission of persuading Ashwini. However, Ashwini’s brother remains steadfast in his resolve to sabotage Ram’s chances in the competition, determined to thwart his aspirations.
