In 1847, King Vinay Biddappa, seeking true happiness, encounters a deity named Panjurli Daiva in a forest. To attain peace, he donates land to the villagers in exchange for a sacred stone, with a warning from Panjurli about consequences if the land is reclaimed.
Fast forward to 1970, the king’s successor, driven by greed, attempts to seize the land. A possessed Bhoota Kola performer refuses, foretelling his death. The successor dies mysteriously, confirming the curse.
In 1990, Forest Officer Murali aims to convert the land into a reserve. Shiva, the missing performer’s son, opposes, backed by landlord Devendra Suttooru. Shiva, haunted by his father’s fate, resists performing Bhoota Kola. Tensions rise as Murali clashes with Shiva’s activities and Devendra’s attempts to influence him.
Shiva’s cousin, Guruva, steps into the Bhoota Kola role. Murali initiates the fencing of the designated forest reserve. Shiva, smitten with Leela, secures her a position as a forest guard through Devendra’s influence. Their romantic involvement complicates matters. Villagers resist the fencing, met with harsh response from police and forest guards, causing a strain between Shiva and Leela. Murali urges villagers to relocate, while Devendra, with legal support from his lawyer Naveen D Padil, gathers property papers to justify the village’s existence. Shiva aids Devendra by felling trees in the forest and transporting wood to Devendra’s mills.
